Valeriia Voshchevska is a Ukrainian human rights activist and digital strategist based in London.

Valeriia has spent her career working with civil society organisations and grassroots movements across the world, helping them harness the power of social media to fight populism and mobilise people for change online. She has an MA in International Conflict Studies from KCL and a BA in International Relations from the University of St. Andrews. After Russia’s full-scale invasion of her native Ukraine in February, she left her full-time job as Global Head of Digital Engagement at Amnesty International––where she spent the last 5 years––and started focusing all of her time on helping Ukraine, professionally and through her own social media channels. This has given her a powerful platform to educate people on all things Ukraine and build global solidarity between pertinent human rights causes online. She has written about experiencing war unfold in her native Ukraine from afar for TIME, Al Jazeera, New Lines Magazine and others, and her commentary on Ukraine-related issues has been quoted by many publications such as NYT, Guardian, BBC. Currently she’s the lead audience strategist for Volya Hub—which funds, supports and connects storytellers from countries impacted by Russian colonialism—and an organiser for Women’s March Ukraine––which is the biggest feminist grassroots movement in the country. She’s also a co-host and co-founder of the #UkrainianSpaces podcast and she also regularly teaches digital activism and strategic communications for organisations like Transparency International, Oxfam, OSF, IFRC and many others.
